2026-05-20Let’s do it! TANE Penguins part 2: Key to Improving Resolution In this article, we focus on one of the key techniques for improving resolution: oversampling. -
2026-05-14Let’s do it! TANE Penguins Part 1: How Should We Think About ADC Resolution? When designing an AD converter, “resolution” is always an essential concept. You may often hear terms such as Effective Resolution and Noise‑Free Resolution when discussing accuracy. In this article, I will explain how to think about these specifications and why they matter. -
2021-03-02Realization of CBM using vibration pickup sensor VP8021-A CBM has been one of the biggest challenges facing many companies in recent years. This is especially true in the industrial machinery industry, where replacement is difficult because of the large opportunity loss in the event of failure and the high unit price. This time, we introduce IMV's vibration pickup sensor VP8021-A, which plays an important role in realizing CBM. -
2021-02-17Record system error caused by power supply circuit It is common to incorporate a mechanism in the circuit that monitors the power supply circuit and raises an alert when there is a system abnormality or power supply abnormality. It's good to monitor the power circuit, but it's very hard to see what kind of problem occurred on which power supply. In such cases, it is very useful to be able to record the log when an error occurs. Now let's talk about logging solutions. -
2021-02-17What are Analog Devices products with functional safety Functional safety is one of the ways to ensure an acceptable level of safety by introducing functions that ensure safety. IEC 61508 establishes standards for the design of industrial equipment based on functional safety. Based on IEC 61508, ISO 26262 for automobiles and IEC 61131-6 for programmable controllers IEC - 6 for programmable controllers. Other functional safety standards, such as ISO 13849 and DO178B/DO254, are not derived from IEC 61508. -
2021-02-16Electronic circuit breaker with current detection amplifier If the power supply is short-circuited due to a circuit failure or operation error, an overcurrent flows, which leads to a secondary failure of the power supply. In addition, heat generated from the circuit components can cause an accident such as a fire. For this reason, many power supplies have a protective function such as a current limiting function, but I think there are many cases where a fuse is inserted to improve reliability. However, the fuse may be blown by the rush current when the power is turned on if the error of the blowing current is large and there is no margin. Also, once it has melted, it needs to be replaced, which makes maintenance troublesome. -
2021-02-16Electronic circuit breaker with input overvoltage protection In the case of the power supply of the receiving electronics connected to the power supply terminal, in addition to the protection by current limitation due to the failure of the load circuit, protection of overvoltage due to ringing and surge generated when the cable is connected may be required. This can be easily accomplished using LT4363. -
2021-02-16Self-resetting electronic circuit breaker In related article "Electronic circuit breaker with current detection amplifier" I introduced that breaker can be reset by turning on the power again or resetting by the LE terminal (temporarily set to low) after removing the fault. However, in the case of the master unit which supplies power to multiple slave units remotely, it may be difficult to set the reset terminal for each slave unit port or it may be convenient to automatically reset. In such cases, it is useful to retry periodically and return automatically. This can be achieved with the additional circuit in LT6118, but it can be more easily achieved with LT1910. -
2021-02-15AD-FMCLIDAR1-EBZ Accelerating LiDAR Development LiDAR stands for abbreviation of "Light Detection and Ranging." It is an optical sensor technology that measures the distance to an object by irradiating it with laser light and observing the reflected light. This article introduces you to Analog Devices's prototyping platform for LiDAR applications, which reduces the barriers to LiDAR deployment and accelerates development. -
2021-02-15How to prevent device damage due to overvoltage The main reason for destroying a device is to apply a voltage outside the specified range of the device. From the standpoint of the reliability of systems shipped to the market, it is important to take measures, such as protective devices, on circuits to prevent devices from being destroyed by overvoltage.
